Tim Tate

Tim Tate is a multi award-winning documentary film-maker, investigative journalist and best-selling author. Over a career spanning almost 50 years, he has written for most national newspapers and made more than 80 documentaries for British and international broadcasters.

He began his broadcasting career as a researcher on Roger Cook’s investigative BBC radio programme, Checkpoint, and was a founder member of ITV’s groundbreaking Cook Report television series. His subsequent films have been honoured by Amnesty International, the Royal Television Society, UNESCO, the International Documentary Association, the Association for International Broadcasting, the [US] National Academy of Cable Broadcasting and the New York Festivals.

He is the author of 19 published non-fiction books which investigate crime – including serial killers Peter Sutcliffe and Robert Black - uncover secret histories and reveal espionage scandals: three of his books have become bestsellers and several have been translated and published in countries throughout the world.   

Tim’s career as an investigative journalist has led him to become a familiar interviewee on true crime programmes. Amongst many others, he has featured in the TRUE CRIME channel’s ‘Wrongly Accused’, ‘Murder by the Sea’, ‘The Hunt for the Chameleon Killer’ and ‘Britain’s Almost Perfect Murders’.
