Paul Maillardet
Paul Maillardet is a leading practitioner of statement analysis, the forensic discipline of detecting deception through language. Paul teaches a method rooted in decades of linguistic research, based on the principle that people cannot lie as easily as they think — because their own words betray them without their realising it.
Trained by the late, great Peter Hyatt, Paul continues Peter's legacy, providing online, group and individual training to a worldwide community of analysts, investigators, police, intelligence operatives, psychologists, true crime enthusiasts, and those simply curious to understand how people lie to us — not just in criminal cases, but in everyday life.
Paul has worked on cases for investigators around the world, including alongside a face CrimeCon fans will know well — Sheryl "Mac" McCollum, through her Cold Case Investigative Research Institute. He also applies linguistic analysis to financial crime, working on cases worth hundreds of millions of pounds.
Paul is a member of the International Association of Crime Analysts and the International Association for Forensic & Legal Linguistics, and is passionate about helping people discover the power of language — to hear what's really being said, in the interview room and in daily life.
