Jane Monckton Smith
Jane Monckton Smith is a Professor of Public Protection at the University of Gloucestershire
Her specialisms are in homicide and risk and threat assessment and she has spent years analysing domestic abuse killings. Out of that came her eight-stage homicide timeline, which maps how controlling behaviour often escalates, step by step, long before anyone gets killed. It’s used by police, safeguarding teams, and domestic abuse services across the UK. Her latest book is called In Control: dangerous relationships and how they end in murder
In addition to research, Jane works on cold and live cases with the police and families bereaved through homicide.
Jane is a regular expert contributor across Woodcut Media productions, bringing valuable insight and deep expertise to the analysis of homicide cases. She has appeared in the last 3 series of Britain’s Most Evil Killers and World’s Most Evil Killers.
