Professor. James Treadwell

Professor James Treadwell is currently a Professor of Criminology at the University of Staffordshire. He is one of the select few criminologists to have been granted access to HMP Belmarsh. 


Prior to becoming a Professor, James previously worked for NACRO and the National Probation Service. He worked with young people convicted of homicide and serious crimes, and spent 9 months in a Young Offenders Prison talking to young people who committed serious violent crimes including murder.



He played a key role in preventing criminals from reoffending and met a series of notorious criminals during this time.
