Eugene Henderson
Eugene Henderson has spent almost the last four decades in journalism, covering all aspects of news, both in his native UK, Europe and further afield. After learning his trade on local newspapers, and a brief stint working in London he moved to Hong Kong where he wrote for an English-language title and was sent undercover to China as part of an investigation in sex trafficking of young women and girls.
He’s also the reporter who told the world of Paul Gascoigne’s exploits in a Hong Kong dentist’s chair. On his return to the UK he worked for The People, The Daily Mirror and The Daily Express, covering major news stories including the inquiry into the murders of Dr Harold Shipman, the Alder Hey baby scandal and the Jamie Bulger case.
Later he helped launch a daily title for News International and for more than a decade freelanced for national newspapers in both the UK and abroad. He now works on projects such as podcasts from his home in France, which is where he came across the story of the rogue John Cotell, the conman known as Codename Badger.
