Dr Nell Darby

Crime Historian

Nell Darby is a crime historian who specialises in gender and crime. She has a PhD in the history of crime, and has published several history books.



Her work has appeared in many publications, including The Guardian, Oxford Times, BBC History, Who Do You Think You Are?, Real Crime, All About History, Your Family History, Discover Your Ancestors, The Simple Things, News24 and Runner’s World. She has undertaken research and advisory work for independent television production companies.

Nell is also the presenter of Murder by the Sea (CBS Reality) and has contributed to television programmes including Dark Land (BBC), Murder Maps (Yesterday) and Pubs, Ponds and Power (BBC).
