Caroline Cheetham

Caroline Cheetham is a broadcast journalist and the Creative Director and host of The Trial, the Daily Mail's chart-topping true crime podcast that brings criminal cases from the courtroom to life through a blend of court reporting and storytelling. She also lectures in journalism at the University of Salford, where she has brought students into the podcast as producers, editors and voice actors.

Caroline has co-hosted coverage of some of the biggest trials in Britain and beyond, from Lucy Letby to the murder of Irish schoolteacher Ashling Murphy, alongside recent series on the tragic death of Preston Davey. Under her direction, The Trial has passed 30 million global downloads and expanded internationally.

In 2023 she was named joint Multimedia Journalist of the Year by the London Press Club with co-host Liz Hull, and The Trial has been recognised as News Podcast of the Year at the Press Awards.
