Steph Richards

A Criminology lecturer

Steph (Co-Founder) is a Lecturer in Criminology at The University of Northampton. Stephanie has an undergraduate degree in Criminology and has obtained a Masters degree in Race, Education and Decolonial Thought from Leeds Beckett University. Stephanie has extensive experience which includes working with survivors of Domestic Abuse; she has contributed to the Northampton Rights and Equality Councils’ Race Act 40 Project which explores the disenfranchisement of black people in the UK pre and post race relations. This has led to Stephanie research and activist work to promote justice for victims affected the hostile environment policy. 

Stephanie has an extensive range of experience doing Public engagements, where she spoke her research areas. Stephanie has continued to use her knowledge to highlight racial inequalities and raise awareness of marginalised voices.

Stephanie’s current interests are in the colonial legacies of Colourism, the hyper sexualisation and criminalisation of women in the Black diaspora.
