Robert Murphy is an ITV News correspondent who has spent more than twenty years covering some of Britain’s biggest crime stories. These include: the Salisbury Poisonings, the Emile Cilliers parachute case, the Christopher Halliwell killings, the inquiry into Sir Edward Heath, the Anni Dewani honeymoon murder, the trial of Penelope Jackson and the trial by media of Christopher Jefferies.



Rob co-wrote the true crime book ‘To Hunt a Killer’ with former Det Supt Julie Mackay.

Rob wrote, presented and produced ITV News’ True Crime podcasts No Strings Attached and Catching Melanie’s Killer. He directed and presented ITV’s digital documentary 'Decoy' about a 1970s covert operation which caught one of Britain's most feared attackers. This has been viewed more than 1.2 million times on YouTube.

He has won the regional Royal Television Society Reporter of the Year award.
