Katherine Schweit

Katherine Schweit is a lawyer and former FBI Executive who spent 20 years as a Special Agent with the FBI and currently teaches law classes at DePaul and Webster universities. She is the author of the book, Stop the Killing: How to End the Mass Shootings Crisis, and co-hosts a podcast by the same name with Londoner Sarah Ferris. Before joining the FBI she worked as an assistant state's attorney in Chicago.   After the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, she was assigned to create and run the FBI’s active shooter program, authoring the FBI’s seminal research, A Study of 160 Active Shooter Incidents in the United States, 2000 – 2013. She is a longtime member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, the International Association of Chiefs of Police. She is an subject matter expert for the National Center for School Safety and holds advisory positions on corporate boards focused on violent threat prevention. She operates Schweit Consulting LLC, providing her expertise on security, crisis response and leadership to corporations, hospitals, religious organizations, educators, and government clients.
