Ivan Beasley

Detective Superintendent 

Ivan is a Detective Superintendent within the Kent & Essex Police Serious Crime Directorate. He has been with Kent Police for 28 years the last ten of which have been within the collaborative SCD. 

A full-time dedicated Homicide Senior Investigating Officer between 2013-2022 he has led 40 homicide investigations as SIO along with other high profile and complex cases. Since 2015 Ivan had also led the Cold Case Investigation Team and it was through this work that in 2019 he carried out a review of the forensic evidence linked to the 1987 Tunbridge Wells ‘Bedsit’ murders of Wendy Knell and Caroline Pierce. From this and for the first time, DNA was extracted from the tights Caroline Pierce was wearing when she was found in Romney Marsh. The results matched the DNA already found at the scene of Wendy’s murder, forensically confirming the two murders were carried out by the same person. Ivan carried out further work through 2020 and ultimately identifying David Fuller as a suspect for the two murders leading him to be charged and later convicted at trial in November 2021.
